CBD
Cannabidiol or CBD is one of more than 100 natural cannabinoids derived from the cannabis plant. Cannabinoids act on your body’s endocannabinoid system, a network of receptors in the cells whose job it is to maintain homeostasis or balance in all your body’s vital systems.
CBD binds to the CB1 receptors in the brain and nervous system and CB2 receptors in the immune system
which regulate inflammation.
CBD can have great therapeutic effects as described below without any psychoactive effect.
i.e no feeling of being high or stoned. (Unlike the THC in recreational marijuana.)
CBD is non addictive and very free of side effects.
THC
Small doses of THC can be very useful to enhance the effectiveness of CBD in the treatment of insomnia,
pain management and some other conditions.
THC is the main psychoactive compound in cannabis that produces the high sensation. THC can be detected in a Urine Drug Screen for up to 30 days after consumption.
Prescribing the correct dose of THC requires the specialist advice of your CannMed doctor. Your CannMed doctor will also advise and assist with any issues around driving and workplace drug testing.
